Counterweight stuck

PL-115d counterweight
Hi all. I recently picked up a PL-115D turntable. It sounds great, but I am not able to move the counterweight. The plastic dial turns, but the weight itself will not budge. I twisted it a bit and it appears that it's locked up. Any advice?
I posted in the Pioneer section also because I didn't see the tt section.

It's possible that a previous owner thought it would be a positively spiffing idea to grease it. It's not. The grease could have hardened over time. You might try WD-40 or something to loosen it up.

I was gonna say carefully spray some WD-40 into the gap.

Thanks fellas. That's what I intended to do but didn't want to jump the gun.

If you're gonna try getting "persuasive" with it. I'd recommend removing the stub from the tonearm first. I think it's just held by a screw that's accessible from the back end of the stub.
