Just thought of this the other night. If CV is altering, like the flu, into different strains doesn't that mean we'll never rid ourselves of it? Some of us get a flu shot every year, but that's only good for the strain we're injected for. Knowing CV is easier to transfer or fight off, especially if the strain keeps changing, how long will it take for society to normalize? I just thought this could be an ongoing cycle for many decades.

Just pluck an answer out of the air! That seems more like what gets touted these days.
 
It's what viruses do, and keep in mind it's still early in the game. Consider the flu and how bad we are at guessing how that's gonna mutate over time and you get the picture. We're lucky that we had the results of the Human Genome Project to dial in exactly what was happening, and the existing mRNA research that gave us the tools to build on ...

And ya ... how effective the current vaccines will be over time is just a guess as covid hasn't been around long enough to develop a track record. I've been hearing a lot more about this becoming a recurring vaccination as the damn thing mutates, but once again no idea if or how often at this point.

If there's a bright side, modifying a mRNA based jab should be a simple cut 'n paste operation, once the new code is targeted. Then all we have to do is take the shots. We're all doomed anyway then, if we consider the fact that less than 50% of the population bothers to get the flu shot now, and covid is multitudes deadlier.

I repeat ... DOOMED.
