There he is, the humble and about as old as me, Rotel RA-970BX driving 2 pairs of speakers.
I haven't put much thought if any at all in what my setup does and or how/balanced things are, and i know there are some much more knowledgeable people around here so i'm wondering if yous could tell me if i'm doing anything wrong with the wiring of things.
So, the Rotel RA-970BX is rated as follows:
And the main speaker pair it's driving is Q Acoustics 1030i with the following spec:
Frequency Response at 3dB - 48Hz to 20kHz
Amplifier Power Range - 25 to 100 Wtts
Cross Over Frequency - 2.7kHz
Effective Volume - 177 Lytres
Bass Driver - 165mm
Tweeter Driver - 25mm Ferro Fluid
Sensitivity (1 watt at 1m) - 90dB
Enclosure Type - 2 Way Reflex
Weight - 15.5kgs Each
Impedance - 6 ohms
I'm pretty pleased with the way these sound on their own, but I found some bookshelf ones I thought I'd add to the system, they sit on top of the floorstanding ones and I found it adds a nice bit in the mid-high end range, they are also more or less level with my ears, so I think it works perfectly.
Wharfdale Diamonds 7.2 with the following spec:
Crossover Channel Qty - 2-way
Nominal Output Power - 100 Watt
Nominal Impedance - 8 Ohm
Sensitivity - 89 dB
That's the two of them together.
I have been wondering whether or not its troublesome, the fact that the top pair is 8ohm and the bottom one is 6ohm, whilst the amp says something about 4 and 8 ohms, from what I read its just going to affect the total output power of the amp? it might now be somewhere around 50 watt, correct me if i'm wrong please.
Anyway yeah, thats my humble setup, I have been looking to fix up the Rotel amp as its got a few issues but other than that I'm pretty pleased.
What are your thoughts?
