Crap! My favorite record store is going belly up!

P.M. Summer so after the sad demise of this cool store what will you be doing to find your tunes?

Found out they're having a 'battle of the local bands' on March 31st, and that Ray Wylie Hubbard is playing there on the 27th as a Record Release/Going Away thing.

It's sad to hear another one go, just not the demand for an actual walk in store any more I guess.

Damn shame is all I've got to say!!!

Double-damn shame.

...and because the LPs are all going to Houston 'en masse', they aren't even marking 'em down!

;-)

Well, new vinyl is $2 off. CDs and 'lifestyle accessories' are all reduced.

RIP
Just realized while reading the whole thread that I was listening to Little Feat, "The Last Record Album". With apologies, from my hard drive. (but I do own the CD, and record)

When I was a kid, we just has toilet paper tubes... and we liked it!

Dagnabbit!

This doesn't help your immediate loss, consarnit, but I hope it helps to know there are at least two record stores around here that have T Bone Burnett-labeled slots.

They exist!

Yeah, there's a couple of stores in Austin that do too (for vinyl), but I don't go into that town if I can possibly avoid it.

Regular guy: Let’s go to Austin for vacation this year.

Regular guy’s friend: Naw… I don’t think I wanna be around all those Austin hipsters.

Could be.

This gets complicated. I met an Austin Stylish-Hipster in that city last week (friend of a friend) who breathlessly told the fourth member of our party (who was from Cleveland) that he'd just gotten back from Boulder (his hometown), where he told everyone he was "from Austin, but not from Texas." Yours truly, aka 'Mr. Happy', proclaimed that he was from Texas... and not Austin.

The little nit works at The Apple Store in the mall, while working on his important 'big thing' in his free time. Another reason for me to buy Apple products mail-order.

Lyle Lovett Texas refrain

You say you're not from Texas
Man as if I couldn't tell
You think you pull your boots on right
And wear your hat so well
So pardon me my laughter
'Cause I sure do understand
Even Moses got excited
When he saw the promised land
That's right you're not from Texas
That's right you're not from Texas
That's right you're not from Texas
.....
But Texas wants you anyway.

I feel your pain, PM. They leveled an entire city block here, home to our two best record stores. Also chopped were several nice eating establishments including our best Mexican place, and the town's only jazz club. All for an Embassy Suites Hotel. :boring: I've still never set foot on the place.
