Crazy list of headphones

I have my mind on several other "dynamic" cans, the Beyerdynamic DT880, the DT990 (both 600ohm versions), the AKG Q 701, the Audio Technica ATH MSR7, and the Sennheiser HD600, there is also an odd one called the V Moda Crossfade M100. Then I heard about these Hifiman HE400i's which are a planar design and they also peaked my interest.

As you can tell these cans are under the $300 range which is where I want to remain, so if there are any other suggestions that I haven't mentioned please feel free if they fall under the $300 cap.

I listen to mostly classic rock, blues, smooth jazz, some lighter heavy metal but no death crap, occasionally movies. I won't be using these for gaming. Some of my music is on CD's, vinyl, and a few on very high quality tape. The headphones would be used only with a stereo preamp (with a separate amp type of system) not on any Ipod type of stuff.

So what is your all opinions on any of these, I know opinions for sound is subjective to the listener. I think I can get all of these from Amazon and could order two at a time and send back the one that I don't like and reorder another to compare, but I was hoping to narrow the field a bit before I do all of that.

Thanks for your time.

add to your list the ATH R70x...I will not consider V moda M100 as it is a bass heavy headphone and will not suit jazz at all...
Thanks for the reply, good to know about the V Moda so I can scratch that one off, yes I had learned of the ATH R70x today so that one is now on the list.
