I stumbled on what looks like a wild and cool gathering they had in Portugal in 2008 called Boom Off Teknival...

Some pretty wild speaker setups.. I know most here won't like the music, but AMAZING some of the setus they have... I gotta wonder where they came up with all the power in the middle of nowhere.

OK.. Looking around.. Apears they have these all over Europe.. Poland, Italy, Spain, etc... Wished we did cool stuff like this around the US... weekend camping parties..

In the US it's more like some rednecks in a campsite blasting Skynyrd through a couple of those 6x9 boxes. And i'm the one yelling "FREEBIRD"
 
LOL.. yeah, I'm sure there is some ear damage going on around there, but there sure are some interesting looking speakers in some of those setups.. and a few sure are pretty damn big for not being your typical array setups..

Actually, for similar type events, my wife and I go to motorcycle rallies.. yep.. lots of rednecks there (me included) but they have some great live bands at all of them with massive sound systems at the campgrounds..
 
The scene from the second video is pretty much the backdrop for my most fear inducing nightmares.

They have these in the UK too, although the legality varies quite a lot. Systems have been confiscated by the police many times in the past.

I've been to my fair share of these events (with earplugs of course...) and the systems range from very nice custom-built horns to cheap Chinese piezos stuffed in boxes with whatever other drivers they could lay hands on.

The best ones are when the guys take pride in their sound system...most of them will gladly talk about how he or a friend in the know spent months building up the speakers. Often, the expensive amp racks are in the back of a truck so if the police turn up they can disconnect and grab what they can before making themselves scarce.
 
Interesing about the legality of it.. One of the Portugal videos I was watching had a cop car driving through telling everyone they did not have a permit to camp there, and they were tresspassing on private property, so LEAVE...

I can't imagine pulling up on private property and doing something like that.. WTF???? I would have figured where ever they had those they would knwo the person that owned the property and would have made sure it was all cool...

Interesting looking events to say the least.. I know I'd enjoy it even though I know I could be most of those kids father..
