Crazy weather...

tobyj17

Comfortably Numb
First off, I'm not complaining...I like hot weather. I'll take it over snow any day.

But i've NEVER seen it hit 102 degrees in Wisconsin!

At 3 PM today, My weather station thingy said 102 degrees...and that was in the shade. It's accurate too.. at first i thought i was seeing things.. but nope i checked it against two others I have around here. I went to town at around the same time, and the bank clock said 106.. of course that was in the sun.

What an odd year for weather events.. tornadoes.. snow in may.. extremely hot weather..etc etc..

Its the sun cycle. I heard that was a large solar flare here very recently. That may have been the cause of the heat you are describing.

Ball-bustin' winter...6 days of spring...Tornadoes, torrential downpours, hail the size of oranges...and now, July/August weather, 85-95, w/withering humidity....Arrrrgh !

Here in Northern Californa it is the first day of nice weather in over a month. Pretty sure it's La Nina, El Nino, or El Chupacabra.

Sounds like the weather here! Looking forward to thunderstorms predicted almost every day for the next two weeks. :sigh:

Sure know I'm getting tired of needing to take a shower after being outside for any length of time any more. Spring was very cool and wet until about 3 weeks ago, Then not a drop of rain and the Summer heat settled in it seems.

I heard on the news last night the hottest reporting city yesterday (6/7/11) was the Twin Cities, MN @ 103° F with a dewpoint of 53. I know my digital thermometer read 106° and the wife said her car thermo displayed 104° coming home.

That's insane..I mean i'm not that old (25) but I can't remember it ever being that hot around here.

When the old lady and I went to town her car thermometer read 104 at some points too. Of course that was on a blacktop road.. but still.

This is the second week we have had daily high temps from 92-99° F. The thing is that these temps are usually found during our summer months.

It is still officially Spring!

Spring here tends to last about two days. Yesterday we had a crew in taking down all the black pines across the front and left front of our property. Neighbors had black pines and some disease hit them. They did not treat theirs so naturally it hopped over to ours. We had been treating them to the tune of $1,000.00 per year but they were still dying and getting uglier by the day. I was going to hook up the lawn sweeper and run it uver the area, but the dew had the grass wet and by the time it dried we were in the 90s. No relief until Friday evening when rain is ex[ected, Will have to get out the cart tomorrow and water the new Norway Spruces. Probably need about ten more Norways to replace the pines.

Yes but it costs me as much as the trees to put protective fencing around them or thewhite tail lawn rats will strip them in rutting season.

Ya' gotta' short circuit that nonsense and just buy plants and trees that the deer DON'T like.... My wife found out the hard way. She fought it for awhile, but finally saw the light.

We do, but a rutting buck will clean/sharpen its antlers on any kind of young tree so the only thing to do is put up guards. Of course if I see one of the little &^%$# this fall they will get a .177 wadbuster in the ass.
