CRC contact cleaners.

Gonna make my head explode. That's what the guy on the video said. Starts about 15:00 into the video talking about it.

He says carbon track, yeah, but that doesn't mean he's right. I've been using DN5, on literally hundreds of units of all brands, for nearly 20 years, and have never seen a pot ruined by it.

Ok. Where does that leave CRC sprays?

99% Isopropyl Alcohol repaired the volume and balance pots on my Sansui 3300 receiver, after CRC & D5 did not. Red (clean) & Blue (preserve) Cramolin is the best. Sill available but not from Caig, who had their license to sell it pulled. I believe that the trichloroethyline content story is false and part of the acrimony between the Cramolin and Caig Labs (Caig did not make it, only sold it under license).

CRC QD electronic Cleaner is what I use. States on the can "quick drying,( qd, get it?) PLASTIC SAFE , helps prevent contact failure. However, I had a can of CRC electrical contact cleaner (relying on memory here) that DID NOT state plastic safe. Both cans, QD & this one similar-looking, sitting on shelf side by side. Grabbed the latter, hosed the noisy volume pot gang in my Yamaha cr-620 & the plastic wiper carriers in the pots crumbled - like instantly. So if it doesn't specifically state plastic-safe, don't use this on modern pots! Old stuff like antique radios , tvs & such probably ok. Yrmv, so proceed wisely.

Probably Lecta-Motive cleaner? Thats for cleaning electric motors and alternators and stuff. Pretty nasty stuff, though it does a nice job dissolving grease and oil.

Possibly. It's around here somewhere, I got that can far away from my work area.
