If you use the custom Google search under the "search" tab for "Marantz 7" or "Marantz 7c", you'll get a ton of information on why that preamp is so good. There seem to be three truly classic tube preamp series that bring a lot of money - the Marantz 7, The Harman/Kardon Citation 1 and the Fisher 400-C/CX/CX2.

It actually looks like it might clean up pretty easily. It's just covered in soot, it doesn't look like it got very hot. I don't see anything melted or even slightly deformed. What are they worth clean and restored?

I have seen them go for $5000+
