Crooked Headshell...how to make cartridge aligned?

Gentlemen, this thread is 7 years old.

I have purchased two headshells from WalMart.com. Nothing special, but they fit great, and work splendidly. I think about 30 bucks, per. Audio-Technica.

In 7 years if anything the quality of the headshells made in China has gotten worse, throwing money to the wind. $30 is about right for new Japan mfg Audio Technica and Technics headshells that are consistant in quality and specs.

There's nothing necessarily wrong with those headshells. I have one here that I use from time to time. The azimuth is spot on as it is with most aftermarket headshells but mistakes do happen, even with original Technics headshells. I've received one that was off azimuth and the "plug" was so firmly held in place that I couldn't correct it.

As for LPGear, I'm not at all surprised the OP never heard from them. I've tried to contact them multiple times for various reasons and never got a response. All were in reference to potential sales so it really baffled me.

Finally, after not hearing from them about a particular stylus, I sent off a sort of WTF email asking what it took to get an answer out of them. That one they responded to but with a very misleading answer to my question. Luckily, I got the complete answer from an AKer who had been snookered on the same stylus. It's a borderline shady operation as far as I'm concerned and I won't do business with them.

By the way, the headshells like the OP's are available on eBay for around $16.00 delvered and you can get them with a "Pickering" logo or a "Stanton" or a "Vestax" logo for double the price if you want. ;)

BTW, I flattened out the finger lift on mine so that the dustcover doesn't interfere with it.

John
