crown k2 for my 4002?

as title says, i have a lead on k2 locally and i know how much praise they have and hard to come by but, i wonder if its worth it?

my xti 4002 is only few months old with 3yr warrenty in tact but, k2 is of course older and i would have to pay for a warrenty for it.

i used my xti 4002 driving a 4648 subwoofer and peavey low rider dual 18's and love the badass output power it has and sound. i pushed it so many times for parties and never missed a beat. i also was surprised by the sound of my xti 4002 testing out on some altecs for full range use and noticed how clean it sounded with no rough glare or grain.

i know i wont lose much output power since k2 is close enough to my xti in power(about off 100w give or take) but, while always been interested in crown bca/class i tech. i wonder if the risk is worth the curiosity? i know i can always get another xti down the line since they are not discontinuing anytime soon and k2 not made anymore and hard to come by nowadays. just wonder what your guys thoughts? would you do trade?

I wouldn't. I'd consider it a lateral move sonically and a couple steps backward feature wise.

As well, the K2 doesn't have fan so the case gets fairly hot. If you work the amp then it's not good in a stack/rack unless you have separate cooling.

I have neither a K2 nor a XTi 4000, However, for reference to my comments, I do have a few CE4000s which are BCA/Class I and I have an XLS 1000 which is similar technology to the XTi.
 
well, i decided not to anyways to go with the trade. looked at the k2 and said naw.

the xti is bit different than the xls. i have xls 2500 as well as my xti 4002 and xti series while different topology( class a/b with good ol t03's) and power it has so much more verstility with the dsp function than the xls as well. plan on picking up another xti 4002 again soon hence why i was considering k2 trade thought.
 
Ahhh, indeed the xti 4002 is AB/B. I must have inadvertently looked at the xti6000 which is a switching amp; BCA type, in fact. While the XLS 2500 and XLS 1000 are similar output topology.
