Crown PS400 SL1 2 Phono FM3 VS Sony STR-GX10/9ES VS Sansui 7

I have a Crown PS400, Crown Straight Line 1 with 2 Crown phono preamps MM and MC and Crown FM3. I also have a Sansui 7 receiver that I have had restored with 18 transistors replaced (sounds great now). Those I own. I am a Sony fan and I am considering buying a Sony STR-GX9ES or GX10ES. This would be in a stereo system driving ADS L980 8 ohm mirror image speakers.

I have listened to both my Crown pieces and the Sansui 7 on the ADS L980 speakers and the Sansui 7 holds its own against the Crown.

I am considering selling all the Crown and Sansui 7 and buying a Sony STR-GX9ES or GX10ES.

Hoping to get some comments about sound quality and this buying decision with all these considerations.

Thanks, Nelson

Based on my PS200, the PS400 should be very good, assuming it's properly serviced. Something else might be different, but probably not better. The signal source, preamp and speakers are where larger gains might be had.

Which Crown phono preamps? They had an mm amp for the sl-1 and an SUT to use with it. They also had an "A" and "B" phono amp for the DL-2 that could be used with the sl-1. The PS is a nice sounding amp and as Conrad said two different very nice sounds. The Crown is a sweet separates rig the Sony one isn't that their last really nice stereo receiver?
