Crown SL-1 vs PSL-2 Opinions on Sound Differences

I have a Crown SL-1 in one system with a Crown PSA-2DX. I have been trying to find a Crown PSL-2 to match my Crown PFM-3 and Crown D-150A II, in another system. So far I have not seen many PSL-2 preamps and when I do they are expensive: $350 for a parts/repair unit or $550+ for a working one. I have come across another SL-1 at a very reasonable price ($150) and wonder if anyone has heard a PSL-2 compared to a SL-1? The PSL-2 has the addition of bass and treble, different tape routing/looping and 1RU (PSL-2) Vs 2RU (SL-1) and the PSL-2 cosmetics match the PFM-3. The Sl-1 has separate phono modules of which I have two: MM & MC; the PSL-2's phono section is internal and MM only I believe. Having said that, what's the sound differences if any? Does anyone know or have experience with these two Crown Preamps?

I have an SL-1 and DL-2. I have not compared them, though. The PSL-2 was the last in the line of home audio preamps from Crown and some who like their 2s believe this is the best that Crown can get for the home audio enthusiast. There has got to be something to the much higher selling prices of the 2 vs the 1. It is not the phono modules. And aren't there hundreds of folks here that would not own a unit that had tone controls but the 2 have em and the 1 does not.

Well ,I can't be of much help for a comparison to an SL-1 but I have sl-2 (no P) and It sent my Marantz 3600 to the closet. I t has a switch to bypass the tone controls.

Enjoy
