Crown Studio Reference 1 Advise...Anyone?

Hi there all...I did a thread a while back about Crown Power amps for home use and someone told me about a rare Crown amp called the studio reference. I have found a couple for sale as of recent. I have not made the decision yet to purchase but am leaning toward going thru with the deal. They are a fair price but still a whole lot of money for me. I really do not know how best to put these to work in my system. I have a few pair of speakers that I am always hearing everyone refer to as "power hungry" and they are bi-amp able. Dedicate one amp per speaker? Run one for LF and one for HF? Run them in conjunction with other amps? There is a lot of horsepower available, just want to maximize it. Any thoughts about these amps and any thoughts as to how to best utilize? Thanks in advance.

Maximizing horsepower is not by biamping through the speaker crossover. If you need/want more power than one Macro Reference then use two in bridged mode or find bigger amps.

Your thread title says Macro Reference yet you talk about the Studio Reference series. Different animals. To which do you refer? Micro Reference, Studio Reference I, Studio Reference II? If you're truly bi-amping using an electronic crossover then try first with one amp for both speakers' LF and see how it goes. If you want more power, bridge the amp and use two. I doubt there'd be any need for them on the HF section of any speaker used in a home. I'm currently bi-amping my JBL 4345s with Crown PS400 and PS200. I have a Studio Reference-II but I don't feel the need to use it. I'm saving it for my 250Ti set if I ever get them setup. I imagine the Macro or Studio Reference-I would be overkill for anything I own!
