Cs- 88a mids blown replace with 77a mids?

Hey Team,
I blew two of my bucket mid ranges in my cs-88a. A Wicked party with Judas Priest's painkiller on 3'oclock volume setting did it. So I was wondering if I could replace these guys with 2 cs-77a mid ranges ( that are cheap on ebay). They are both FB, the same size (5-3/4") and the only difference I notice is the part number, 12-701F for the cs 88a and 12-702F for the cs 77a.
Does anybody know if there is any difference in these parts other than name?
Perhaps wattage?
Is this a bad idea?

No can do. The 88a's use two 16ohm mids where the 77a uses one 8ohm mid. I guess however you could use one 77a mid and just not connect the other blown 88a driver. You would just have connect the driver with the positive lead from one driver and the negative from the other. (hope that makes sense).

Oh - and take it easy on those sweet 88a's! :-)

Vinyl Seance. There's cranked and then there's Cranked with CLIPPING! Sounds like you went into clipping and burned out the VC's. You're lucky you didn't blow the amp/receiver to hell and back. If you're turning up the volume to 3 oclock on your unit it's more than likely clipping and putting out all kinds of distortion, and not helping your gear at all.

Back it down a bit and save your gear.

I usually just go to 12 o'clock or 11. It got to the three o'clock position because of a drunk party goer got to the volume knob.
I am lucky worse things didn't happen....
