I have had a CT-600 tuner for a while, and it works and sounds great.
However, a CT-800 popped up for sale and I had to have it.
I was testing the two side by side, and I noticed when touching the knob of the 800 that the AFC/ STATION led dimmed. I thought that was odd, because the 600 doesn’t do this. Maybe some weird grounding issue.
So I found a CT-800 service manual, and lo and behold, it’s meant to do this.
It senses the static of the skin when touching the knob, and goes into AFC mode. Genius.
An addendum to the service manual shows adding protection diodes to the sensing circuit for cases where high static has blown a transistor in the sensing circuit.
So , I am assuming that the AFC is not working on the 600.
Anyone ever come across this ?
