CT-F1000 Help

Hi

Just got a nice looking ct-f1000 for a decent deal but the unit doesnt play or FF/REW. I am very new to working on tape decks but I have done some repair on amps.

Please guide me or point me to some threads where I could learn on how to start debugging to find out the issue.

Google is your friend in cases like this. Search Pioneer CTF-1000 and Google will bring you back to numerous threads here on AK and some other forums. There is a wealth of info available.

^^^ you mean searching really works? My guess is the idler is old and worn. Needs to be replaced or reconditioned.

Yes, possibly the clutch, many threads on this issue for the CT-f1000, f9191 and others:
AK member MarktheFixer was doing clutch repairs, but I'm not sure that he's still doing them.

I had a nice F9191 that I gave up on and sold for parts before reading about the clutch problem. I wish I had kept it and tried my hand at a fix or sent the clutch to Mark for a repair.

I have not used AK very much so apologies for the dumb question! Can someone let me know how to get a hold of Mark the Fixer? I also have a Pioneer CTF-1000 that needs some work (Clutch, belts, etc.). Thanks!

Yes the clutch needs to be repaired in this model, but it can be done without the custom-made brass collars. It will be 100% reliable.

I've restored several CT-F1000s and others and never needed the clutch repair. I'd recommend getting belts and idler tire from wjoe, which come with install instructions that are not difficult to follow.
