CTC drivers in Pro-Linear

Super Member
anyone know anything about the quality of these drivers? I don't think Pro-linear have much (any) reputation and I've seen some really cheap ones. These are well built 3/4 inch cabinets. a 6" woofer with doped cloth surrounds and a 3 inch tweeter. Both are CTC. the tweeter is a model 2T2 code 7403, the woofer model 6W10C code 7321. Between the neg terminals is a 8mfd 50v cap. crossover is 1100. freq resp is 38-20000. 30 watts . speakers are model stage 2.

sorry CTS drivers

no wonder nothing came up in my searches for :dunno:

her is a pic of the front, gonna do some a/b testing now.

CTS was a mass market driver manufacturer that was used as an OEM for a number of speaker firms. For a time, they supplied the bass drivers used in the Klipschorn (Klipsch has always had a reputation of seeking out economical drivers). They seem to have been somewhat analagous to Eminience, in that they were considered cheap, but competent given the price point.

finally listening to them..

I know it's been a few years, but for a while they were packed away and then for a few years they were in use on the computer.
well, tonight I hooked them up to a "real" stereo....6l6 tubes ..and they sound very nice, well balanced with a top end that sounds a little like a horn?
Should have listened to them sooner............

Daymn...talk about a blast from the past! BTW: My statement about CTS and Eminence isn't exactly right. I can't remember how it went, but they both co-existed for a short time. RayW explained the lineage recently. Oh, cool deal Krimney!
