I have a Curtis Mathes Viking stereo that I'm converting to a stereo console for my 2 channel system. Love the tambour doors and styling. I've gutted it out and now have the receiver, tt and drivers sitting on my garage workbench. Should I save the internals? Is there any resale value to these stereo consoles?
I've been careful to take everything apart in a way I could reassemble it later someday for whatever reason. When I got it it powered up but no sound and found one of the tubes broken so that's likely the problem but could be more issues. There are two small transformers on the amp that are corroded, judging by that and the turntable condition it was likely sitting outside for a while.
I don't see many of these on ebay or other classifieds so not sure value. I think it's cool that it's point to point wiring but can't say I'm impressed with the drivers and not even sure what it would take to get everything working so trying to sell may not be worth the effort. I'm tempted to just throw away the internals, maybe keep the power transformer and tube rectifier, they could maybe used for something later.
Looking for confirmation that my hoarder tendencies can be dismissed in this situation. My garage is already full of stuff I've "saved for later use" and never touched in years.
