Curved "S" tonearm headshell for Mitsu. LT-30 Linear tracking?

Last question about the Mitsubishi LT-30 (I halfway promise).

Most of the photos I've seen show a typical headshell for a curved s tonearm. However, this one has a straight tone arm.

Something tells me that since this is a linear tracking TT (my first), I use the standard S curved headshell, but I just want to confirm.

Why not? The headshell uses the same bayonette mount and is pretty much a standard mounting system. The only thing you'll need to do is set the cartridge overhang according to the LT-30 Owner's Manual. Oh, and rebalance the tonearm, too, of course.

I've got an LT-20 - pretty much the same thing - and use all sorts of headshells to quickly switch between carts.

Cheers,

David

It uses a lightish (5-7g) standard headshell, and the measurement is 50mm from the stylus to the rubber washer.

The LT-20 & 30 headshells are interchangeable, but the original LT-30 was magnesium, vs plastic on the 20, IIRC. I'll double check mine. Same offset for both.

Yes, very rigid and dead, just slightly heavier. Much better than the generic perforated aluminum head shells you see, which flex very easy. I have had an old ADC black magnesium headshell in my box 'o cartridge stuff for years and it is a very close match for the OE black magnesium shell. Putting a different cart on it. I just LOVE the lack of influence this LT-30 has. A really awesome TT! I think it is indeed my new favorite.
