"Custom" 60's Fisher Console - Help ID

Hey Guys,

A friend asked me to help ID and assess value of a Fisher console. It is located in San Clemente, California.

She says the console includes the Fisher receiver, two tape decks, and a turntable.

So far, I only have the attached photos. She will send me more photos later.

Please help me ID the cabinet and electronics. Looks like the controls are from the two Teac tape decks. Looks very custom.

It definately a CUSTOM CONSOLE. The only thing FISHER is the 800-C.

So far I see an 800-C, and two panels from TEAC Tape Decks. Different styling than THERED1's "The Commanders Console" although there are a couple of styling cues that are familiar. The cabinets look like they were made in Japan, with the components built in at the time of manufacture. You should be able to find (inside) some markings as to the manufacturer. Speakers are separate from the center console. Most likely Wharfdales, Corals, or just about anything else in it.

As for VALUE, I'd ask the moderator to move this to D&S so price can be discussed.

Ask the owner for pictures of the Center section opened up showing all components at once. Also ask to have the back panels pulled off the speaker cabinets, and take pictures of the center section from the back.

Larry, Thanks. Yes, the current owners said it was purchased in Japan. Looking at the small statues on top you would guess the owner was former US military who purchased it while stationed in Japan and then brought it back to California.

I would add that there is probably only one tape deck. Those look like mono recording/playback amplifiers, with two required for stereo.

Good point. She may have been confused by the two sets of controls when she told me it had two decks.

Here is the full text from the Ad... sure looks to be another custom job like "The Commanders Console" :

1960 Vintage Stereo system was purchased in Japan when my father in law was in the Navy. It has not been used for 30 years, however it works and the sound is amazing. It is housed in a beautiful wood console.System includes a Fisher 800C tuner,Dual 1225 turntable, 2 reel to reels, one is Teac, the other is Sony, 2 Teac equalizers, 2 Wharfedale speakers. There are 30 reels mostly unused and a drawer full of replacement tubes, parts, etc

It appears that the second RR unit is in one of the 2 drawers in the left of the console.

The Teac is in the top left side and the Sony is in one of the drawers.
