custom console find

Man that is quite a find. Most of us would be glad to find a piece or two.You got the whole tamale.Unless you have some nice tube gear there would be no reason to flip.Bad karma.

yeap i realize i am so very fortunate. now begins the fun part, restoration.

the reason i posted here opposed to dollars and sense is because i am basically a newbie to vintage audio and most certainly tubes... i will need lots of advice and this seems the best place to get that info.
in the next few days i will start in on it, i am also fortunate in that i have lots of gear to play around with so i am in no real hurry here. just want to do it right..

I habe been looking to getting into tubes especially after attending a few smac events. bought a small pilot reciever of an ak member and could not be happier with it. but as always wanted bigger and better. picked this custom console today, has not seen power in over 20 years. man am i stoked !!!! :smoke:

Is that an old Electrovoice in that last photo? Unbelievably good luck!!

It was no problem, I was delighted to do so...

Seems to be some interest in the speakers. Attached is a pic of the driver compliment, pretty much standard I think.. Though they do sound sweet through a little pilot tube reciever.

Remember when you restore these components assume all paper caps, all electrolytic caps and all black beauties (if the equipment uses them) are bad. This is up to you, but I recommend replacing every resistor in all that equipment due to the fact that I have replaced only bad resistors before to have a good original one go bad the very next week. Plus it saves on testing each resistor and the work involved in doing that.

That's truly one of the greatest finds I've seen in some time. I'll bet it feels sooooooooooooo good! Congrats and keep us posted on the rerfurbishment.

oh i will, i do have some concerns and not sure if i should keep this thread going or start new ones. i wanted to get into the preamp tonight but ran out of time. i am so far from putting any juice to any of this equipment but i did find a variac today and am trying to decide what i want to adress versus what i want others take care of for me. you guy's are great and i am sure will offer up some awesome advice.
