Custom Technics SL-1200MK2 arm

I'll add a couple pix here, but at some point soon I'll start a new thread about my table as this is just the first mod and more will be done as I get the money. That new thread will have some more detail about the arm mounting.

Installation was a cinch. The worst part was that I had to make a run to Lowe's to buy some screws as the new arm assembly took a different size mounting screw than the original. Otherwise the new arm lined up and attached easily once I ground down a wee little spot on the top cover as instructed by Paul. Here are a couple quick and dirty snaps:

Unfortunately I started to get really sleepy last night after I had everything set up again, so I've only had a chance to listen to a few albums thus far. But my initial impression of Paul's work here is overwhelmingly positive. I knew this tonearm would be a functional improvement, but I was not prepared for just how audible the change would be. And the quality of craftsmanship here is very impressive. Way to go Paul!!! Thank you! :thmbsp:

So glad it worked out for you- I really like the original decks with the old arm swapped out for the MK2 arm.

Yours and Mark Walters- the last two I've done- are my finest examples yet- I think I hit my epoch with these last two, and really thrilled the results are so positive with the new owners. I do feel the modifications really help the minor shortcomings of the arm.

PS- Shipping's on me. Enjoy!

Thanks Paul!! I owe you one for sure.

Man, 6:00 (the end of my shift) cannot get here soon enough so I can go home and listen to some records. Between this arm and my recently completed Pass B1 my system has taken a huge leap forward in the last week. :)

I got mine yesterday as well. I can't wait to get it installed so that I can draw a comparison to my two Sumiko arms. The damn jeep is taking up all my spare time at the moment, but I will report soon.

I know this an old link but what is the size of shrink tubing do you use on the arm? Also do I need to remove the nut at the end where the head shell attaches?
