CV D9 or JBL L50?

Picked up a pair of Cerwin Vega D9's at a garage sale for $40 that needed to be re-foamed, that I am in the process of doing. Anyway a guy at work has taken a liking to them and he has a set of minty JBL L50's that he wants to trade strait across for them. What do you guys think? I really don't have the room for the D9's anyway but I don't want to short change myself either (value wise).

It sounds like he prefers the sound of the sound of the D9's over the L50's especially considering the D9's need to be refoamed. Maybe you should refoam the D9's and have a listen to both sets of speakers in your house. Keep the pair you prefer rather than making a decision like this based on others opinions. The value of a speaker is not always based on dollars.
 
You dont have the room for the D9, need I say more.
If you don't like the jbl trade or sell them. It's easier to sell or
trade the jbl & with cash you can can get something more
modern and a smaller foot print. The options are more in
Your favor with the jbl's.

Thanks Indy, this is more of what I was trying to ask. Its doubtful I would put the D9's to good use as I have a set of JBL SVA 1800, JBL CF 150, a slew of AR's... Essentially I'd like to keep on flipping speakers until I find those "must haves" and try to stop there. I just didn't know if it was more in my favor to sell the D9's for cash or trade them for the JBL's... He's also got a set of JBL L36's I should hit him up for!
 
The l50 is the newer version of the l36 & has a more complex
crossover. IMHO I've had better results in selling the jbl's, the buyers
were more of collectors & the CV's were sold were to high school
Kids or entry party house collectors. For the jbl's condition is a
Big factor for the paying collector. As for finding that end all be all
set of speakers never comes for people like us, we must hear & experience
everything of quality, finding "Your" sound will always evolve.
Just enjoy the experience, and done right you'll end up with
some pretty cool gear. Oh yeah audiokarma goes along way.
 
Had some D9's and they played loud. After a refoam I figure you will have 75.00 bucks into the D9's, It took about a month in my area to sell mine. They sold for 250.00 a price that seemed typical for a pair. If you are a hard rocker and like a pair of speakers you can attack with your volume knob fearlessly? The D9's may fit, they are large.
