CV speakers

I was wondering if anyone can help me suggest a good amp to drive Cerwin Vega speakers. I have a pair of E715's driven by a Pioneer A88X 120wpc power amp but somehow they don't sound as powerful or as punchy with this amp. Would you know an amp that would bring out the "CV quality" that Vega's are meant for?

I would think 120wpc amp would be more than enough but more power is always better

I actually had these cheapo Magnavox speakers that sounded splendid with this 70's 25 watt 4-channel Sansui. I mean this receiver really made the woofers move, and the sound was really full. When I drove these speakers with the same 120wpc Pioneer amp, the sound quality was rather rigid and the woofers didn't seem to move much at all. The bass response was 10 times weak compared to the Sansui.

I was kinda hoping to find a similiar power amp (or receiver if it comes to that) to do the same with my Vegas, as I notice the same behavior when I drive these speakers with the Pioneer amp.

My dad gave away the Sansui long ago, and I don't think I'd want another HUGE receiver like that one anways.

Ok, totally disregard this post... Something interesting I've discovered just a few moments ago.

These speakers only sound purely FANTASTIC driven with a good pre-amp (and driven to loud levels even better). I was messing with a few DSP plug-ins I've downloaded with my Winamp program and I must say these have impressed me beyond words! Using my computer I've downloaded a few pre-amp programs and listened to some music that I use through a digital output connection from my computer (passed from my receiver to my Pioneer power amp). I don't think a more powerful power amp was the solution, but a good "preamp," in my case, a software digital equalizer (more sophisticated than your average standalone one) I can pass from my computer through my 2 channel power amp...

I suppose a new Sansui I was about to purchase would be out of the question at this point... In response to the previous poster, my Pioneer amp is smaller than the Sansui but has more wpc (louder), and it does sound better than the Sansui

The DSP plug-ins I've tried are Enhancer 017, DFX, OctiMax, and Izotope Ozone... The latter of the four, most impressive but expensive for the full version... some preset functions are made for specific artists and they match beautifully! If anyone who listens to Winamp through their main system I HIGHLY recommend to check out the DSP plugin's available!
