CL is getting sicker by the minute. Not mine.

A lot of scamming on CL these days. :bash: :uzi:

FYI . . . Mummy Mountain/Paradise Valley is one of the wealthiest places to live in the U.S.

If it was "installed in my folks home and never moved since", a scammer would have a hard time explaining why it is somewhere else. Of course, if only an email harvester, then yes, they would get many responses, but that is the main reason to use/create an account specifically to answer questionable situations like this one.

There is a constant Paragon scam floating around, but that ad doesn't match it. Sounds like the kind of neighborhood where a Paragon would appear, and possibly the seller wants a quick sale more than maximum profit - otherwise it would be on eBay.

no one in their right mind would sell a Paragon for $3k.... If someone knows a piece is worth 10K, and that people will line up to pay that, then why would they only ask for 3?.... I'm hard pressed to believe it's legit... I bet address harvesting too..

$3k or Best Offer. Just mentioning Mummy Mountain is like saying It's "Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills". Also they seem to know a lot about the drivers etc. Midcentury modern + acoustic elegance? Con job.

Maybe the pool boy is having a fire sale while the owners are in the Bahamas, i'd make sure i got a receipt when i forked over the cash.

rich people dont get rich by giving stuff away...

go to any estate sale in a upper crust neighborhood. around here they all are pretty much the same, lamo merchandise at high prices and a ton of snooty people.

I disagree. I worked with a hauling company about 6 years ago. We would go into homes and empty out everything food, jewelry, louis vuitton, furniture and the people would pay us to haul it away. I furnished my house, paid the rent for 6 months off the stuff I got out of there, when it was time for lunch all I had to do was walk to the back of the truck. I was just recently in Pacific Heights doing a job, the people contacted 1-800-got-junk to clean out their pent house....the truck was loaded with reusables...I bought to Persian rugs off them for 10$..they were clean and fully restored...5x12 I believe they are.

Rich people get rich by stealing from the poor, plus their tax rate is the same as the guy selling you a big mac.

Funny, from your story I could have swore you just said you got rich by stealing from the rich, or more like they were generous enough to give you (someone who is 'poor' in their eyes) what they had, knowing it was worth money.

Not all rich people get rich by stealing from the poor. That mentality is exactly why our country is screwed up right now. There are hard working people in this world, and there are lazy people in this world who want to sit around and blame the fact that they aren't rich on people 'stealing' what they were 'entitled' to. Guess who gets ahead in life?

Watch your Karma man...:thmbsp:

You know different rich people than I do. Many of the wealthy people I know value their time a LOT more than they value their stuff, and will readily sell something cheap just to be rid of the hassle. And some of them are wealthy enough that a JBL Paragon really isn't up there with their most expensive stuff. I've seen plenty of just regular furniture that's $10,000, $20,000.

That said, I ain't sayin' this isn't a scam. But its legit enough that I could see going through the trouble of making an email account to reply to it...

Actually I worked for a hauling company it was got junk...our job was hauling aka get the stuff..go to the landfill....it wasn't our job to short the items, tell the customer what things were worth..resell them and give them a cut..The workers who hauled this stuff were giving permission from the boss to keep what we like or donate what we can. In order to save the corp money and intern make more money from the customer. What you are saying is that if a rich person donated items to a charity they are intern stealing...and everyone of this forum and in the world who purchases items from an estate sale/garage sale are intern stealing :scratch2: I am not starting an argument just stating

go for it !!!

By the time I pay my chauffeur to drive to phoenix, hire some day-laborers to pick up it's 900lb mass, and haul it back (probably ruining the corinthean leather in my Maybach's cavernous back seat)..its just not worth it to me.

In all seriousness I hope its real and somebody gets the vintage speaker system of their dreams!

I was just joking around, not trying to be too snarky. I'm not wealthy but being single in my mid '30s, I have some disposable income and even now, I find that I often will pay more for something, or sell it for much less than ebay-price, or even give it away...than to deal with it for a lengthy amount of time trying to squeeze maximum profit out of it, simply because my job takes up so much of my life, that anything I can do to free up time is worth it to me, even if I lose money on it. I can imagine that if I had enough money that I never had to think about it, then I would happily sell my Paragon for a ton less than its worth just so it would be out of my hair and then I could go sailing or whatever it is that truly wealthy people do. I'm sure I could think of a dozen things more fun than making an ebay listing.

I contacted them and left a phone #

I want to see it (them) even if I can't buy them (it)

If it's real, then it's LONG GONE.. this is one of those ads you have to answer in 10 seconds..

If it is real, and I could be the first in line to buy it, I'd sell my left nut if I had to to come up with the money.... You're gonna make a hell of a profit on it to not do what ever it takes to find the money..
