I know DAC's can improve computer to headphone sound substantially. My questions is a little different.
I am looking for a new dedicated CD player. Am I better off buying a moderately priced CD player with a mediocre and attach an external DAC or should I spend the extra money on a CD player that has a better DAC built in? I believe the cost of either option will be about the same. I will use this almost exclusively for speakers not headphones. I am leaning to the external DAC because I could also use it for computer playback if I wanted to but I understand that computer downloads are recorded with a limited frequency that is not as good as a CD range so I won't use it on a computer very much. I just want to get as much frequency range out of the DAC as possible.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
