DAC of a Denon DVD A1

Hi all,
this is my first posting. So I'm sorry if I picked the wrong category(or created unwillingly a double post), or did some other newbie mistakes.
I recently have bought a Denon DVD A1 which initially seemed to work fine but now it only reads CD's if i just start the first track.
If i try to jump on some other number it will produced an error since the laser is jumping to the end of the possible outer Head position and jumps back then trying to read the initial track.
I exchanged the laser but the issue remained.
I think its some problem is somewhere with the mechanics, anyway!
The good part of the Denon A1 is you can connect a external transport to it via Optical and use the internal DAC which is a Burr Brown 1704 so far I remember.

Here my question.
Will the Sound (analogue output) be any different when im using an external transport?
I would think it would be the same, since one is "importing" only the raw data and the DAC is doing its magic, but maybe I missed something.

Thanks in advance!
