Dahlquist DQ-20 recommended tests

Been looking for quite a while and I found a pair of DQ-20’s within a reasonable distance from me. Least to say they are now sitting in my living room!

It will be a few months before I can get the NAD amp for them, so in the meantime I want to re-foam and do tests to ensure they are tip top condition for when I get the amp.

What are some tests and things to check for on the speakers that I can do right now? Things such as measuring the impedance, checking the crossovers, checking the caps, re-foaming, etc. Also maybe a small how to on how to go about checking them.

On the note of measuring the impedance, how do I go about doing this? Do I measure it from the red and black terminals on the back of the loudspeakers, take each driver out and measure them separately? What’s the acceptable impedance they should have? Etc.

I’m quite new to the loudspeaker game so any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to say there isn’t much intimate contact you need to have with them if the foams are done so take you time and do that part slowly.

You can check the DC resistance of the speaker or each driver if it is not in the circuit, lift one connection. Don't know what the numbers should be but both speakers should be within a couple tenths.

While you are looking at the nude speaker get pics of the crossover and post in this thread for comment and then look for some Clarity Cap CSA caps to replace those inexpensive caps in the speakers.
