Dahlquist DQM-9 Speakers Opinions

What is everyones opinion on the Dahlquist DQM-9 speakers? All I have read is rave reviews on them I would like to ge a set of them with the wood finish as I really do not like the nextel finish. Also what is nice about them is Regnar carries parts and upgrades for them. But it seems as though everyone that has these must keep them as they are hard to come by as are the Magnat Speakers who made the drivers for Dahlquist.

They are truly great speakers. I love mine and the room they are in is less than ideal but they still sound great with detail, imaging and very good musicality plus no need for a sub unless you need to shake the house.

I also recommend the m-90_ line as well. With their vita drivers and well designed/executed enclosures they do not disappoint.

Where are you located? Maybe someone local can demo a pair for you.

I really would like to hear them, there is a local guy who has two pairs for sale with the woofer surrounds redone and all new fuses from Regnar but he wants 450 a pair and they have that messed up nextel finish. He will not lower the price much if at all. I am South of Chicago and been looking on craigslist, even considering the DQM-9C speakers. Thanks for responding glad you like yours.
 
got 2 dqm 9c in wood veneer and trying to decide to sell, keep as is, or upgrade caps+ other crossover bits. they sound great and are mint like (except very bottom surface where there is scratching from sitting on various floors since about '88 when i bought them new from dealer called united audio in chicago. i don't think they need anything but stories about regnar or sonic craft upgrades tempt the tweaker instinct. I did an upgrade of this type on 15 yr old fender amp with great results for example - technology moves on. they are special so i kept them all this time but I have to consider downsizing now. what advice from folks?
 
Dahlquist DQM-9C

I picked up a pair from the original owner a couple of weeks ago in the woodgrain finish. I heard them when I picked them up and they sounded great and in near perfect condition. Although I have not heard them at home yet because I purchased a Luxman R-117 from a guy named Robert Smith in Sierra Vista Az. over five weeks ago and never got the Receiver, so if anyone ever deals with this person. BEWARE.

I guess you could try a recap but I would imagine a total crossover replacement is overkill.

Let us know how they sound after and what mods you decide on.
