Dahlquist Profiles PDQ-Ref1t

Do you still have them. I am thinking I may pick some up locally. Right now I am using Speakerlab monitors with an eight inch woofer and Vifa dome tweeter and a couple eight inch sub woofers with a passive crossover. Not sure how much of an upgrade this would be.

If you can get them cheap enough go for it:)

they look great - probably even makes the sonics better.

I'd look at your receiver to see what can be done to lower the noise. shouldn't happen.
if its as old as you then it needs a recap. otherwise it might be noisy transistors that
test OK (out of circuit) and if it is then it could cost a lot to replace them as well for
a recap.

you may wish to find newer stuff, or a demo unit and bring your headphones and
that CD that reveals the noise.

used stuff on CL/ebay - zillions to choose from. if older than 15 years look for recapped
ones. trust your ears.

Sorry I don't have my equipment listed but I run a Sony p9000 ES multichannel preamp and four Conrad-Johnson MF series amps in a 5.1 setup. I also run a separate stereo rig with an Audio Alchemy pre and Conrad-Johnson amp. Speakers for rears are three-way with 10 inch/6 1/2 inch/1 inch all Vifa drivers hand built in the 80s by a professional speaker builder (Russ - Speaker World Pinellas Park). I don't have any problems with noise! The Dahlquist speakers have a great reputation but not much info on these.

Just picked up a pair of PDQ Ref 1T's for $20 a piece. More efficient than my Original NHT superones. Not as precise but enjoyable. Find them for cheap, go for it.
