Those drivers are originals back in the day you could update from the ar 2a to the 2ax. There used to be 2,5 inch speakers in a plastic cup that fit where the mid is now. It needed a new backboard to fill the space. The tweeter is also an upgrade from AR and was the original ar2ax tweeter. later they went to the 3/4 inch dome like the ar-3a uses
