Excellent tuner, one of the best if not the best of all time. Seems like a very nice price as well. I'm in the market for a nice Sansui tuner, but I unfortunately don't live in Dallas. Hopefully someone here will pick it up.
 
I am pleased to say that this TU-X1 now has a home in Austin where it will live until retirement! It is in excellent condition and sounds fantastic. One of my Holy Grail components has been realized and is the finishing touch on my TOTL Sansui stack. These are never cheap but the price on this was too good to pass up and within reasonable driving distance. I also got to meet another friendly AKer and see his excellent personal set up. Thank you T.T.! I can't stop smiling.
 
Excellent tuner, glad it found it's way into the hands of someone that can fully appreciate it. Listening to mine right now :)

I am really glad that you got this unit. I drooled all over it, but couldn't justify the expense. Congratulations - your new tuner is in fantastic shape! The guy you bought it from is a great guy. Did you listen to his Dunlavey's?
 
I wondered what that was all over it! ;)

I hooked it up for some preliminary listening and it is really sweet. Unfortunately it's too big for my rack (T.T. warned me) so I need to figure out a rearrangment. I think the big Tuna will go on the open top shelf where the turntable is now and the turntable will move to a small table beside the rack. This is the first time I have seen one of these in the flesh and it is really huge! It is literally taller and just as deep as my big receivers (Pioneer SX-5590, Sansui G-9000, Yamaha CR-3020) and almost as wide! Not nearly as heavy though but definitely the heaviest tuner I have ever lifted. It even makes the Sansui BA-F1 power amp look small. If I can get it all rearranged this weekend I'll attach a pic.

Yes I did listen to T.T.'s set up in the living room and the other one in the home office. Wow! I wanted to swipe those Dunlavys when he wasn't looking but they wouldn't fit in the car trunk and it's pretty hard to make a quick get-away with a pair of those. I'm not sure they would even fit in the bed of my truck! I was quite impressed with them very clear and natural sounding. Of course his other gear might have something to do with that too. Great set up and a great guy to boot!
