Damaged JBL LE25 tweeter looking for advise on repair or replacement

Hello,

I have a pair of JBL L100A Century speakers

One of them has a damaged LE25 tweeter (please see attached picture).

I am uncertain what path is best.
Repair it...if so where? are there viable DIY options?
Replace it...if so buy another used one? or is there a new option as good or better...again where?

In addition to that issue the foam on both tweeters is decayed and am hoping to know the best resource to buy a replacement kit? are they all the same or is there a good/better/best aspect to the choosing?
I also have seen some using a neoprene type material instead of foam...is this better or considered wrong or not OG for the JBLs?

I am also uncertain if I should just replace the foam or also the thin cellophane type material under the foam as well? is this necessary? or leave it alone? if so where to buy that?

There's perhaps something like this that could get you by short term?

Not sure of your mastery-proficiency of re-coning of the speakers you have with Kits? Is that what you wish to do? Rebuild such yourself?

Or perhaps preferably acquire another original pair, and I'm sure they're out there if you look.

As for the Foam "Diffusers" (Rings), the originals of course would rot-crumble. Same with the Grills.

And both can be gotten that will serve their purposes just fine. Not a make or break deal so much of you buy such from a reliable source, places like Simply Speakers, and others across the web.

If it was me, and wanted to avoid some BS, time, and lost hair, I'd likely opt for a clean original pair, but know that you'll spend a good amount of cash for such.

I have seen some new Chinese duplicates on simply speakers. Not sure how good they are. I would get them reconed, or recone them myself unless another oem tweeter was readily available.

I have never put any stock into paper tweeters, I would put just about any dome radiator replacement tweeter in there and think it would give better performance.

There are kits available on eBay, you can find the foam rings there as well. Both combined are about the same price as buying a used replacement, but then you never know what you’ve got til you’ve got it.

Personally, I really dislike the LE25, but understand monkeying around with a collectible speaker kills its value. Replace or recone is best.

Hunt you down a single replacement for your LE25, they're out there. Also refoam or get refoamed, your woofers, and do a proper job of it. And get your JBL classics performing like new again. Then you can enjoy them for many years.
