Found an item of interest and entered my max. bid with 15 seconds left int he auction.
I click "submit" and then get the spinning timer circle thingie until after the auction ends.
The page then reloads and gives me a list of other items I might be luckier in bidding on.

The auction closed for a fair amount LESS than I was willing to pay.

Too bad for the seller, eBay screwed him...

Don't blame the bay. It is more likely your internet connection was slow at that moment or your computer. I have "sniped" e-bay items lots of times with 6 seconds left to go.
 
Yeah,I had that happen on a mega rare video that I was desperate to win.I was so disappointed even for days after,and what made matters worse it went dead cheap.
That's the thing with sniping,there's always a slight risk involved,wherever it be your connection or eBay's fault.
 
Ebay should do what Ubid used to do. Everytime there is a snipe bid, the auction gets extended another minute. Then it would essentially become a live auction until all but the last bidder drops out.
 
Equally frustrating is to hit the submit button when you're making a snipe and it takes you to the log-in page. Argh!
 
Internet connection is never limited, it's an eBay issue.

As for sniping, every bid on the auction was done automatically by eBay's own "sniping system".
I don't feel bad about jumping in at the last minute to catch a deal (though their system seems no to like it, at the expense of the seller AND at their own expense in final-value fees).
 
It's even worse when there's 2 minutes left and a blackout happens, taking out the broadband router.... Cost me an amp
 
I like the way ebid.com is set up. If an item gets a bid, another minute is added to the auction and this continues until finally sold. Great if your selling, sucks if you're a buyer.

I've done the click submit to login page before that sucks. I usually don't snipe though. I put in my max bid when i see the auction and that is it.

Really. Mines all over the map up and down and sideways and then back ass wards.
On the eBay thing, I look at it like it was a sign, it just wasn't meant to be.

Could have been several things... any number of things really.

In the end - if you believe in luck - it just wasn't your day.
If you believe in fate - you weren't meant to have it, and the other guy was.

Either way, it sucks - but there will be another.

True.

I can only speak of it for 8.5 hours/day, M-F, 48 weeks/year.

My HOME connection, on the other hand...

As for the gods, I hope to hell they're concerned about things far more important than my bidding on an eBay auction :D

I love this idea! Let the highest bid win. It would make sniping less effective.:yes:,Eric
