Dark Brown Speaker Grille Fabric

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to source an open-mesh, very dark chocolate brown speaker grille fabric for Yamaha NS-1000 loudspeakers.

I have some swatches from Midwest Speaker repair (top) and Simply Speakers (bottom) and both are too light. Does anyone have any thoughts on where I might find a near-perfect match for this cloth? I admit it's possible this fabric is stained darker than it should be. Thanks in advance for any advice.

The dark brown cloth I bought from P.E. is pretty dark. But it looks like the cloth on those frames are even darker though.

Ebay has some sellers for speaker grill cloth.

I suspect you will never find a match as the old cloth may have faded and even if you find the same manufacturer/color, it still will not match. I just went thru this with a pair of DLK 1 1/2's.

I suggest you redo the cloth on both speakers and call it a day.

The problem is the cloth is a very dark brown. I doubt it faded from black to brown, and I doubt it faded darker.

I have ordered a couple of swatches from Guilford of Maine, who appears to have a really nice product. I ordered samples of their FR701 fabric in Chocolate:

And their Anchorage fabric in Coffee Bean:

Hoping the former fits the bill as the latter only comes in 5 yard sheets. Will report back with my findings for future reference.

Did you end up with teh Guilford of Maine cloth? If so, how did you like it?

I got samples from Guilford of Maine. The color was great but the fabric had very little stretch to it. I ended up going a different direction. The owner opted for black.

I think perhaps it could be made to work. However, the recovering of the NS-1000 speaker grilles is a bit more complicated than most, and I didn't feel comfortable using a fabric that didn't stretch. I think on a straightforward frame, it could potentially work.
