Darlington Labs MP7B

So, try to explain to me why the MP8B is so much better.
The dual mono power supply architecture, along with even higher rail voltages than the MP7B, allow for better separation and air, and an overall larger soundscape, with an even lower noise floor. Depending on one's ancillary gear, and how much they listen to vinyl, the MP7B may be all they'll ever need. If, like me, vinyl is your primary source, the MP8B is the better long-term choice. Yeah, it costs more. Buy once, cry once. But, with the DL upgrade program, it also becomes a much more attractive option.

Oh my gosh. I just played MoFi Steely Dan Aja LP. Whoa! I really enjoyed that, it was an "In the room performance".
And you say a MP8B is better?
Vinyl was not my primary source, and probable will remain as a secondary source, but lands squarely into the favorite category.
EDIT NOTE: I can see my self getting more records.

It is a keeper. It sounds great, Better than any other phono stage that I have ever owned. The noise level is so low, you think something is missing, until your mind comes to the realization that the "noise" is what is missing.
That's pretty much what the DL experience is all about. The MP8B is the best sounding phono pre I've had, also. The original MP-7 was no slouch in the sound department, but wasn't really a tweaker's toy. The added capability of the newer models far outstrips many competitor's preamps.

I've got the Ort MC X30 going into the MP8B LOMC stage. Except for being somewhat more neutral than the SU-7, which has a warmer tone, the 8B stage is PLENTY good!!!

I feel comfortable saying that the MP7B is probably 85-90% of the MP8B. Many simply don't need the extra kick. I probably didn't need it, literally, but it was easily worth the modest upgrade cost.

I'm not trying to twist your arm, btw, you just got the 7B! You need some listening time, to become intimately familiar with the sound, before you consider an upgrade. That way, you'll be able to appreciate more the differences in presentation.

I can tell you this much. I like the MP7B. Every time I play an LP, it impresses me.
Will the 7B be with me until the end, I can't say for sure. It depends on the upgrade bug vs the "very satisfied with my system" feelings dueling for dominance in my brain.
The "very satisfied with my system" scenario is winning so far, and it isn't much of a fight right now.
If I had the $$$, I would have gotten the 8B, and I would be done. However, at this point in time, I'm happy with the purchase and performance of the MP7B.

Just got back from a weeks vacation in FLA. I took the Parasound Z-Phono XRM and My Benz Micro L0.4 with me to FLA. We installed the Benz and the XRM to a friends TT and system. My buddy said it sounded very good. I told him the crazy story of the phono amps, they all got a chuckle out of it. You should have seen his face when I gave the Benz and the XRM to my friend, he asked how much, I replied nothing. I'm glad that I was able to help him out. He was very happy. It also made me feel pretty good as well.

That was a nice thing to do, and, I'll bet it did feel good!!!

That's no bueno!! I did that myself about 7 years ago. Put me on the floor, and I have a pretty high tolerance for pain. They made 5 incisions to repair the damage. Just keep up with the physical therapy, you'll be fine!

Have they done the surgery yet? For me, and because of COVID, it was about 10 months between injury and surgery. The useless arm thing sucked. Both times.

Same here. I tried not to take the pain meds but I had to take them at night to sleep. I have 5 incisions as well, 4 on top of my shoulder and one near my armpit.
