I wanted tunes for XMAS so I got several good records. One is

Blackjack David - Dave Alvin - double record - MFSL

I like it. There isn't one song on it that just blows me away but it's all consistently good and I just keep finding myself putting it back up on the table...which is a pretty good measure on how I feel about it. He's mostly pretty low key folk/blues/country - good vocals, musicianship, real lyrics...
Excellent recording quality.

As I said, I like it.

That is a good one. I am hit and miss with his/Blasters albums but his live shows are not to be missed. He plays the Freight here every year.

I have his Live From Austin, TX album. It wasn't what I expected after the Blasters but enjoyable nonetheless.

He came through town with The Knitters, playing at my favorite venue (The Sons of Hermann Hall), but I missed him.

My loss.

I'm gong to keep my eyes open for him playing at the Freight. Great venue and he ought to be fun.

Joyce, check out his live album *Out In California* all his latest. He has a wonderful song called AndersonVille.Probably the best civil war song since The Band's *The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down*

Too dammed cool....:thmbsp:
I am a big fan. I remember seeing the Blasters way back when (kick ass) and..I really love his solo stuff ass well.
Great Americana music.
