I picked up a Parts Express Titanic III 10" sub kit to go with my Hornshoppes. I believe it's rated at 240 watts, & I have to turn it up @ 3/4 volume to get the output I need (crossed @ app 130). At 125 watts, you might need two of the subs you're talking about to get the volume you need, depending on your speakers. Would still be cheaper than the kit I bought.

Just a thought.

Believe PE is offering free shipping for any purchase over $99. Just bought a set of their .25 cu. ft. cheery veneered cabinets for my Yamaha Be-domed tweeter/mid project. As when I bought the same 10" Titanic sub kit as Charles, got free shipping on the cabinets. I also find I have the volume turned up to 1/2, or more, on the 10" Titanic to match the speakers. But, I do like the nice, tight bass it provides. Especially with acoustic bass on a jazz album.

Did you notice that part express has an 8" xbox sub for $20? It's passive and will need external amp and crossover and the cabinet is incomplete (needing a cover for the OEM amp cutout). But for some, who have the right config, it could be a real bargain. Combine 2 of them to get really solid bass. Maybe their crap. I have no idea. But for $20, they'd make a fun project.

I also bought a 70wpc Dayton plate amp, on special, for $45.
I made an adapter out of 3/4" solid pine and used that to install the Dayton plate amp into the OEM cutout.
Pretty tight bass down to 40hz.
I'm using the Xbox sub with a pair of 1968 Coral BX-200 speakers that tend to be bass shy below 100hz.
Great combo IMO!

Pretty much any conventional sub is going to have a hard time keeping up with horns because of the (typically) large difference in sensitivity.

How's the quality?

I'm not expecting gold here, but is it good enough to keep up with some Vandies, Thiels, or Maggies?

Any "chuffing" from the ports? Not usually a fan of ports, but how does this box sound?

For $210, one could have a pair of these. Not bad!!!
