Hi,

Anyone have any information (manual) on this Sound Dynamics Speaker:

SD30S

12" woofer, 4" midrange, 1" tweeter
25HZ - 22KHZ

Also, anyone have any info on DB Plus speakers (made by API)?

How about a guy called CUBDOG?

Thanks

DB plus speakers seem to be relatively little known. I found a pair of 6 or 8 inch two ways, and after refoaming thought they sounded quite good. Passed them on to my brother in law whose Allisons were being banished for domestic reasons.
Oddly enough, one of the local liquor stores has a pair for their music. They are towers, possible 10 inch woofers, and also sound nice. both pairs seemed to me to go for clarity rather than warmth, though not excessively.
API seems to have bought a lot of canadian speaker companies (and I think they ended up with what was left of Nikko).

Though Sound Dynamics made some really nice speakers, info/manuals for them are about impossible to find. I see your model has an 'S' in the number -- do they have the little horn/waveguide tweeters in them? I have a small bookshelf set that is part of my keeper gear; they were finished in vinyl, though, and I see a new year veneering project in zebrawood for them. :)

Api

APi WAS a Canadian based company that made Energy, Mirage, Sound Dynamics and Athena. Athena, particularly the Audition series, replaced Sound Dynamics in the heirarchy in the later years.

API was recently sold to Klipsch. ...pity.

cubdog has been a member here for years, or i think he's still a member unless he went and got himself banned for some reason.

I'm familiar with the DB Plus line. Rotten name but good speakers. Feed them power and they put out big sound. A pair just went on Craigs up here, not sure of the price. This particular pair stood about 4 ft. high, with 2-10 in. woofers and a 1 in. dome tweeter in each box. The seller put in the caveat, "not the last word in detail, but very good sounding speakers." I happen to know this guy and he was referring to the sound of the DB's in comparison to his Yamaha NS690's. Not a fair comparison, really.

I had a pair of 10" DB+ 100 MKII speakers and they sounded pretty good. Coulden't go that loud without the woofers bottoming out. So i sold them. I think they are made by the company that used to make energy speakers (found out after heavy research)

Thanks To everyone for the info.

My Sound Dynamics SD30S are the Signature series speakers. I have two sets - one I use and the other for parts. They have a 1" Dome tweeter (inside aluminum) in a plastic case. Sound pretty good for the year - 1991. Lots of base and highs. 20HZ - 22 KHZ Three ways. I had to make the grills for them (bought them 2nd hand). Only 1/2 inch wood, so they are actually light for their size. They seem to have went cheap on the cases.

I would love to get a copy (even a photocopy) of the manual, just for the hell of it.
They were probably sold in single boxes as I have 4 of them and not one of them has a consecutive serial number!

I have a pair of S12 speakers. they have a 12" woofer and the brushed aluminum horn tweeters. very good sounding speakers. these occupy a solid place in my collection.
