DBX controller Box for SFX-1 Speakers?

I have a nice pr of DBX SFX-1 w/o the controller box. It looks like those are hard to find. Is the difference in sound worth the endless search to procure one?
They sound decent now. Have looked on ebay & craigslist to no avail. Thanks.

Yes, the controller is vital to the unique imaging of the SFX-1's; it's more than just an outboard equalizer, closer to what Polk did with the SDA arrays.
