DC Power Supply Cable Pinout

I would very much appreciate it if someone could help me figure out which cable I need?

Scenario - DC Linear Power Supply with center positive output. Technics SL-10 uses a center negative plug. I am looking at cables I have the option of P1+/P2- or P1-/P2+. Which one would suit my use case?

TIA for anyone who can shed light on this.

PS: If it's not against the rules to post the auction site links to the items I am looking at I can add them, just not sure if that's kosher.

I'd interpret the drawing at the ear end that way, that the standard cable would connect the inner contact of the barrel plug to pin one (+) of the output jack. Hence the second cable option would appear to be the right one for you.

You have contradicting information. The symbol in the manual shows center negative, while the symbol on the device itself shows center positive. I would recommend opening it up and tracing the wiring to make absolutely sure what the polarity is.

No contradiction there. The excerpt is from the manual for the Technics SL-10, which dhf intends to run with the power supply shown in the pic below.

That's what I'll do before hooking anything up, I was just hoping based on the P1 P2 info someone could help me figure out what cable I need.

This is the cable i'm looking at for what it's worth. DC21 --- Oyaide DC plug to Aviation GX12-2 Plug Canare 4S6 DC Interconnect Cable | eBay

As you can see there are two options of the configuration, one of them should give me what I need but I'm trying to verify which it is:

With what the device shows, my assumption is I would order the Pin2+/Pin1 GND cable to reverse the polarity of the power supply at the plug end. Am I thinking that through correctly?

That diagram on the power supply is useless because you don't know if it's showing the pinout of the socket or the plug. You need to check it with a multimeter to be sure.

The pinout shows on the GX12 plug that P1 is positive and P2 is negative. I think this would mean that with the plug that comes with the supply that P1 goes to center (which it shows as positive) and P2 goes to outside (which it shows as ground). I might be missing something super obvious you are trying to tell me though.

When the supply comes in I will verify that P1 is positive and P2 is ground, but I'm still having a hard time deciphering which of the two pin configurations I need on the new cable. I'm starting to feel really dumb and that I should order both cables and see which one gives me the configuration I need but they're $40/each.

As already mentioned in post #2, I'd deem the second option to be the right one for you. Because I'd think, that the cable manufacturer has the standard configuration (i.e., inner contact of the barrel plug = plus) in mind - but you want the plus on the outer contact instead.

That makes sense to me and I think I'll order that one first. I appreciate your thoughts.

That may the standard today, but back in the '70s, '80s, and '90s, center negative was the standard for most equipment that used a DC barrel plug power supply: radios, tape recorders, calculators, video game consoles, musical keyboards, etc.
