DCM Garbage Timepiece find . . .

Went to throw some stuff away in my building and there neatly piled was a pair od TimePiece DCM bookshelf speakers.

Looking OK cosmetically, not great, but could use a refinishing.

Hooked them up and they sounded constrained, confined. No real trebble, muffled lows. Sounds like the tweeters are not working or not working properly.

Can't seem to be able to get th the speaker drivers themselves, so I can't test them individually.

They're supposed to sound really great, with superb imaging. I need to fix these, so I can use them in my office.

Any experience and/or suggestions?

Cheers

You will probably spend less effort and money buying them off "that auction site". I own a pair, and for their size, are good speakers.

Locate the crossover and see if it, like other DCMs, has the lamp/fuse in it. If it does, check it. The Timepiece was also to be used with the Timebase as a team; so you only have part of the equation. Most DCMs are worth the effort of restoration, but it may indeed be cheaper to find a full pair, if yours need too much work.
