DCM TF-600, how much would you pay?

That's certainly an easy mod to try out and reverse if you don't like the results. I assume the felt doesn't hurt performance, and it may actually be important for some reason beyond controlling resonance of the metal screen. Why don't you give it a go and report back on the difference?

I have never been tempted to do this primarily because vintage DCM designs seem to be pretty carefully thought out. Also, I have learned the hard way that DCM construction methods are not at all friendly to tinkering around. Socks get stretched out and never look right again, foam pieces disintegrate, drivers are frequently glued in and can't be removed without ripping out chunks of particle board, screw holes are easily stripped, metal masks get bent if screws are tightened just a bit too much, etc. Having learned my lesson, I now try to leave them alone and just enjoy the wonderful sound they produce :music:
 
Wondering if any of you guys know the rating for these bulbs other than 12V...It also crossed my mind that a long time ago Radio Shack used to sell holders & a matching 12V bulb...a lot of stuff they carry has changed so wondering where and what you guys bought...I'll look at my speaker that is not firing this week...thanks again :)
 
Potentially stupid question...How can you tell if the bulbs are burnt out or not? Do they light up when in use? Can they be test with meter?

Can the top caps be pried off? I worked on 2 sets of 350s, one pry off, the other set was bolted on.

The TF-600 also uses a breaker on the PCB that resets itself. This, at least is what my TF-600s have, in addition to the bulb. I believe the bulb is for the front tweeter on the 600 and the circuit breaker is for the rear firing tweeters, but of this I am not positive. I have not had to get into the inside of these for quite some time now. When the bulb blows, on the crossovers, it is fairly obvious, but has to be removed to test. On this photo the CB is circled.

I use a pair of TF-600s as Rear surrounds in my home theatre system ...
opens the room - really moves the rear wall out!
