Background story, so I bought these TF1000s almost 10 years ago without thoroughly checking them out (big mistake) because at that time I had a TF600 so I thought they would be better. Well, after I compared the 2 the TF600 to my ears sounded way better so TF1000 was shoved in a corner collecting dust till today.
My last move 4 years ago damaged the plastic panel for the speaker terminals so yesterday I decided to try and fix them. Since I was going to fix them might as well replace the nasty speaker cloths. After removing the cloths I discovered the midrange were not the originals and they did a terrible job installing the replacements see pictures. On top of that they placed sandbags inside that busted open and covered the crossovers with sand . One of the crossovers was wired incorrectly and most likely both of them are not wired properly. I now know why I didn’t like how they sounded back then.
I was able to buy the original 4 inch midranges today once they arrive I will figure out how to install them because the cutout is now much bigger than before. For now need to figure out the crossovers and which wire goes to where because I don’t dare follow how it was wired by the previous owner. So if anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it.
