DCM TF500s getting noisy

I have a pair of TF500s that I've been using for many years. I bought them off my brother when he moved to a place he didn't have room for them. I upgraded from my TF275s and love the TF500s.

They are now making a crackly noise I assume from the tweeter. Problem is, I can't find anything on how to open them up. They do not have the sock all the way around. They have a solid wood back that didn't budge when I took all the screws out.

I'm down to using the old 275s, but would like to fix the 500s. Anyone know of a resource for this?

A little wedging with a heavy duty wide blade like a spackling tool, or similar, will break it loose eventually. You will most likely also have to remove the top or bottom or both. When it is making that noise, put your ear close to the speaker and see if you can make a positive id of which driver is making the noise. I have two pair of TF400s and at least one of each pair started making a scratching noise, which turned out to be a loose woofer. A couple of turns with a screwdriver solved the issue.

Great! So just removing all the screws on the back and carefully pry the wooden back off. That helps. We just weren't sure that it was even supposed to come off!
