DCM Time Frames theory

I own a pair of re socked and re foamed TF 350s. I know a lot of members here actually like the line was special interest w/ the TF600 as some would say the sweet spot of the line. I've seen many rehab projects here, nude cabinets if you will but what's inside. I know it's officially called a Transmission Line speaker but what does that mean ? Would a very simple analogy be akin to the Bose Wave Radio and it's tube like design as seen on commercials years back.or not so much..Keep it simple I failed algebra 1 about 3x so math is not my strong suit.

Also what happened to Dr. Morbious the DCM hoarder dude who knew quite a bit about these things ?

While it is possible that the TF600 is the "sweet spot" of the line, there is little doubt that the TF2000 is the "Supreme Being" or "Mac Daddy" to all others.IMG_0854.JPG

Here's how I think of it-

Box speakers exert pressure on the bass driver and the size of the box and whether it's ported allows the designer to adjust the low frequency response of the low frequency drivers.

A transmission line takes this to another level by routing low frequency sound through a channel that is sized and configured to affect the low frequency pressure at specific frequencies. When this is done correctly, the low frequency sounds can be especially lifelike.

I've heard this often also, but I am not in that camp. I find the tweeters in the later TimeFrames (400, 600) lacking. I like the older TimeFrames (350, 500, 700, 1000) with the soft dome tweets. I also like the TF700 and TF1000 better for midrange smoothness, since they have midrange drivers. Of course, since we're taling about speakers, your opinion would vary, since we all hear and prefer differently.
 
TF and TW² along with some record albums defaced to be used as index markers. Hope the boys in general arguing over using records to make art don't get wind of that. Sure looks good. Those Frames just dwarf the Squared and well those are bigger than my regular TW.

I agree. I have the TF700 and I think it sounds much better than the TF600. The TF600 came out when DCM started their downward slide, cheapening all their models.
