HI,
I'm considering checking out a pair of DCM Time Window 1A for sale in my area. They are listed for $175. Any opinions on the speaker and price listed? Look to be in excellent condition.

Thanks in Advance,
TC

Nice speaker. Fair price. you pay that much or more on eBay PLUS shipping, which won't be cheap for something that big.
Make sure all the drivers work though, as DCMs are the biggest PITA to work on I've ever encountered.

Seconded! I have a pair in progress right now.. Partexpress sells close replacement tweeters..

I'd offer less and see if you can get them. They are a nice speaker.

An honest question here ? What is the signifigance of the rather odd name, "Time Windows" ? I really DON'T know, & would like to...PM me if you want...-Sandy G.

Here is what DCM said about the first ones. Might explain the Time Window for you. Want more? Like reviews and such?

I own a pair, have since about 1980 (give or take). A little shy bass wise as to be expected, otherwise well rounded given their physical size. They ran me $660 a pair back then. Black goop they used to seal the drivers is a royal PITA to remove, some sort of super caulk. Really hard to remove, REALLY HARD TO REMOVE. Plus its hard to remove. Other than that, for their size they hold their own quite well.

All,
Thanks for the info. I called the seller and he's holding off from selling until Wednesday, hopefully he calls me and gives me a chance to purchase. I am now very intrigued by these speakers.

Blue Shadow, thanks for posting the scan...very interesting.

Are the drivers in these prone to failure? I think I read that the surrounds on the woofers are rubber rather than foam...those should last pretty long?

They should last just fine. On some of them the foam socks around the outside deteriorate, but mine have held up well. Mc Master sells foam that makes a good replacement, but you have to buy a huge roll for $40. The woofer surrounds are indeed rubber, so no worries about those rotting. As long as you don't clip your amp the tweeters should hold up well.

They are great speakers. I would try to talk the seller down $25-50, but they are honestly worth $175 IMO.

Great speakers I got mine about 6 months ago and I haven't unhooked them yet. Usually I dont have the same pair hooked up for more than a month on my 2 channel system. These can have decent bass when I played hotel california off of eagles hell freezes over they suprised me on how much bass they put out. Good luck.....
