Dead Channel on Cartridge

Been acquiring some MM phono cartrigdes . Got a Shure Realistic R47EDT with a dead channel. Mounted on different headshells, then finally got out my digital multimeter and confirmed that , indeed, one of the channels is dead. Hate to just pitch it. Been doing some googling about DIY repair and am coming up empty. Is there anything that can be done with this cart, other than pitch it? Thought about trying to take it apart . Would I just pry the cartridge out of the plastic casing?

Those wires are very small. I had an old Pickering with a dead channel. After 5 or so try's I tossed it. Those wires are also very sensitive to checking with a meter. Better have a weak battery when checking them.
I think many cart's. are blown just by checking. The voltage on a multi-meter will be enough to fry it.
Why they are so small is anyone's guess. For a MM cart the wires can be any size to work. Just a little more weight if larger. But no, they use the itty bittyist wires imaginable. Very easily blown.

Now MC's are another story. The coil must be small and very fine. I wish I knew how they check them at build.
