Dead Onkyo DP-X1A

Hi all. I hope someone can help me. Initially, I had the Onkyo DP-X1. After a few months it would no longer charge and became a brick. Bought the DP-X1A and the same thing happened after only a few months. Contacted Onkyo to make a warranty claim. They claim that this is a "Japanese" model and is not covered by their warranty. (I am a lawyer and I'm going to at least yank their chain a little before I give up on this). They also claim that "the battery that is needed is no longer supplied through Pioneer/Onkyo." Assuming they will end up doing nothing for me to fix or repair this under the warranty, is anyone aware of what battery it needs? Aware of any shops that can do that repair? Any of that sort of info would be extremely helpful. Thanks all!

How old are these things? I certainly would be 'yanking their chain' more than a bit in your situation.

We have significant protections in Australia for consumers in the areas of reasonable expected lifetimes, implied warranties etc. A company cannot fob off customers with legitimate complaints including early life failures, or lack of spare parts without ending up in the lower level courts with judgements against them.

restorer-john, the DP-X1A was only about 4 months old when it died. JoeESP9, I bought another because, sepite the problem with the 1st one I really did LOVE it! At the time, I just wanted to hurry up and get it replaced. Hindsight - pretty dumb. I know. At this point, I finally have the player back from the company Onkyo had me send it to when I thought i twould be covered by warranty. It literally took 3 months to get it back! I have not yet gotten a response from Onkyo or Amazon or the 3rd party seller on Amazon regarding my threat to sue. I will update you when I do. In the meantime, I would still really appreciate hearing from anyone that knows what part I would need to buy to replace the battery and/or any shop anyone knows of that can do the repair. Thanks in advance again.
